Alleviating morning sickness: acupressure points to help you ease the nausea during pregnancy

Chinese traditional medicine describes energy channels that connect the body's surface with the internal organs. Stimulating certain points on the skin through acupressure, acupuncture, or heat can help balance the digestive system and naturally ease nausea. Scientific studies have shown the effectiveness of specific points, such as Pericardium 6, in alleviating morning sickness. These points can be safely massaged by yourself as often as you need. If you require further assistance in managing nausea and morning sickness, book an appointment with me in Amsterdam East. I offer a range of natural techniques that are safe during pregnancy to provide you with relief from nausea.

Managing back pain and discomfort as your body changes during pregnancy

Back pain is a common discomfort experienced by many pregnant women, but it's not the only one. Throughout my experience in prenatal massage, I have also encountered women dealing with hip pain, sciatica, gluteal pain, sacrum discomfort, as well as stiffness in the neck and shoulders. As the pregnancy progresses, the body undergoes structural changes, and muscles may tighten or weaken to adapt.

During prenatal massage, it is essential to be mindful of the changes happening in the body. Pregnancy hormones make the ligaments of the pelvis more flexible, so it is required a gentler approach compared to regular deep tissue massage. To ensure optimal comfort, I have my clients lie on their side, providing support with pillows to create a relaxing and comfortable position.

In addition to prenatal massage, I incorporate Toyohari acupuncture techniques to further support my clients. This non-invasive style of acupuncture is perfectly safe for pregnant women and can help reduce pain intensity while promoting a sense of relaxation and balance. It's important to note that no needles are inserted into the body during this treatment.

By combining prenatal massage and acupuncture, I aim to provide pregnant women with effective relief from back pain and other discomforts associated with the changes their bodies undergo during pregnancy.

Moxibustion between 32-35 weeks: promoting fetal positioning for a smooth delivery

During the weeks between 32 and 36 of pregnancy, many fetuses naturally turn within the uterus, positioning their head downward and facing the back. This favorable position eases their exit through the pelvis during childbirth. Traditional Chinese Medicine uses moxa to encourage babies to get into the best position. By warming the acupuncture point Bladder 67, located near the outer part of the pinkie toe, this natural process can be stimulated. The most effective results are often achieved around week 34, as from week 36, it gets more difficult for the baby to turn.

Moxibustion for turning a baby into breech position

Moxibustion is a safe and simple treatment that can be done at home with the assistance of your partner or family members. There are various techniques you can use, such as direct okyu moxa burned on the skin, with moxa cigars or smokeless carbon sticks warming the point from a distance.

Learn how to safely perform this self-treatment at home by booking a session with me. I will gladly guide you through the process, ensuring you can effectively support optimal fetal positioning for a smooth and successful delivery.
